President’s Message:

Dear Camino Grove Parents and Families:

About a week ago, my husband and I had the opportunity to help at Dana Middle School with the Jumping Over the Record Event. This was an event in which 80,000 students across California participated. The goal was to beat the existing world record for the most people jumping rope at the same time and be in “The Guinness Book of World Records”.

Planning and coordinating this even was a huge task that took a lot of time and effort on the part of a lot of people, especially that of the Dana Middle School staff and students. As I stood watching the students jumping rope for 10 minutes, I was thoroughly impressed by their desire and tenacity to break the record. I was also encouraged to see so many city officials, school board members, PTA volunteers and members of the community come out encourage the students and be part of this event.

This event was a wonderful example of what it takes to make a community grow and succeed. More importantly it sent a message to our students with regards as to how valuable they are to all of us. As I’m sure most of you have already heard, the city of Arcadia was once again voted by BusinessWeek Magazine as The Best City to Raise Kids in California. When we see and hear about examples like this where the community comes together to support our students, we can see why BuinessWeek honored Arcadia once again. It is also a reminder how everyone’s help and effort, whether big or small is an essential part in making our school and our community a success.

I want to extend a note of thanks to everyone who tirelessly works to support our school through PTA – you truly are wonderful and a joy to work with.

This month, PTA is organizing our annual CAN You Help food drive. Please consider donating what you are able in order to help those in difficult situations in our community. We will also be celebrating Dr. Seuss’ Birthday at our Family Fun Night activity on February 25th and our Book Fair will be opened during the week of February 22nd – we will be sending more information home about these events.

Please continue to join us at our PTA meetings and activities and especially, we look forward to hearing your suggestions and input. Thanks again!
