Transportation

Walkers and Bike Riders:<= /p>

Children are urged not to arrive at school before 7:55 a.m. since there is no supervision prior to that time.  Students who arrive at school prior to the 8:25 bell are to report directly to the lunchroom at the primary school and to the cafetorium<= /span> at the elementary school.  Stu= dents in grades 3-5 are permitted to ride their bicycles to school.  This is in accordance with the age recommendations of the Arcadia Police Department and the California Highway patrol.  Bike racks are provided in a fence= d area adjacent to Cabrillo Road.  It is strongly suggested that bikes be locked while at school.  Students are not to ride bikes on = the playground or through the parking lot at any time.  All bikes must be walked on campus= at all times.  All students who r= ide bicycles to school are required to wear bike helmets.  Be sure helmets are labeled with students’ names.

<= span style=3D'font-family:"Abadi MT Condensed Light";mso-bidi-font-family:"Abadi= MT Condensed Light"'>Crossing guards are situated at the corners of De Anza Place and Altura Road, and A= ltura Road and Hugo Reid Drive during times when children are goin= g to and from school.  Children sho= uld always use crosswalks when crossing Hugo Reid Drive, Cabrillo Road, and A= ltura Road.  Even then, they should cross cautiously after looking in both directions.

For drop off and pick up at = the elementary school, parents are requested to use ALL legal curb areas around= the perimeter of the school campus.  This includes areas along Cabrillo, Drak= e, and Altura Roads as well as Hugo Reid Drive.  Utilizing all of these areas will = help alleviate a dangerous traffic situation that occurs when parents use Hugo Reid Drive exclusively.  Frequently double parking occurs, cars are parked in the red zones, and crosswalks are blocked.  The Arcadia police department does not allo= w the crosswalks to be blocked by vehicles and will ticket vehicles that are illegally parked.

Birthdays

Please do not bring food ite= ms to your child’s classroom.  Don’t put your teacher in the awkward position of having to re= fuse your treats.  If you wish to acknowledge your child’s special day, please bring a book to donate to the class library, or ask your teacher for other suggestions.

Party invitations may be distributed only if all classmates, or all boys or all girls are invited.  Teachers will pass out the invitat= ions at the end of the school day.  If not everyone in the class is invited, please do not bring the invitations to school.
